Keeping with the Gospel value of Stewardship of Creation, our Board's current
spiritual theme includes the elements of sacredness of creation, the value of human life, wellness, care for the environment, and global awareness.

Part of this whole-system responsibility for environmental education includes modelling environmentally sound practices in our facilities and operations. Check out the links below to see what our greater school community is doing to show We Care.

WE CARE for Freggie FridaysOur schools are focusing more on healthy nutrition thanks to the Canadian Produce Marketing Association's (CPMA) program: Freggie Fridays. Freggie, the program's mascot who is made of fruits and vegetables, has been making special visits to Board schools to deliver free and engaging presentations to delighted students.

WE CARE for BatteryCycleStudents from 20 Board schools participated in a new battery recycling program - BatteryCycle. Due to their outgoing efforts, three of our schools have been recognized for Gold and Silver Awards in the city of Ottawa!

WE CARE for the OK Clean Water Project

WE CARE for Earth Hour
The Board supports WWF's Earth Hour – where millions around the world turn off their lights in support of action on climate change. The Ottawa Catholic School Board led all schools into Earth Hour on a special date this year, Friday, March 27, by participating in innovative ways within the classroom. Read more >>

During Earth Week 2009, the Board and all it's schools participated in Earth Day Canada 2009. Mother Teresa High School in Nepean led the City of Ottawa as the Champion School to host the Earth Day 2009 Live It Up event. Read more >>
