![img]](/media.php?mid=24369&xwm=true) ![img]](/media.php?mid=24370&xwm=true) SCHOOL BUS CANCELLATIONSThe safety of all students is always the first consideration when making the decision to cancel school bus service. Transportation staff receives up-to-date weather information from Environment Canada when road conditions appear to be hazardous. Staff are in contact with other local school boards, school bus operators, and municipal road crews to review local conditions.
Route cancellations due to bad weather or road conditions apply to the whole day. Details on cancellation decisions are broadcasted over local radio stations. A notice will also appear on the main page of the Board's website. When school bus routes are cancelled, schools remain open for students. Students who ride school buses should not be driven to school unless they can also be picked up at regular dismissal time.
Emergency Early DismissalOn occasion, it may be necessary to send students home early due to weather or road conditions, power failures, or a single school emergency. In this situation, parents are contacted by school staff and children are transported to their usual drop-off location. Radio stations are notified of such situations as soon as possible. Students will be transported to their home or their alternate emergency childcare provider that is on file with the child's school.
