    Community Service

In order to graduate students must complete 30 credits, pass the grade 10 literacy test, and complete 40 hours of community service, volunteer work.

Community service hours can be completed anytime over the 4 years of high school. A form for recording community service hours is available in the student service department.

The student services department maintains and posts a listing of current community service opportunities.

Please note that regular school activities and clubs do not count as community service volunteer work. Participation in courses or workshops that directly benefit the participant also do not count as volunteer work, ie. taking a C.P.R. or first-aid course.

School related approved community service would include volunteering in the Education for Community Living program at lunch or during a scheduled spare. Working as a volunteer tutor during lunch or spare would also be approved school-based community service.

The following is a sample list of potential volunteer placements.

It is imperative that ANY placement you select is approved by your Guidance Counselor and a parent.

If you have any questions concerning this requirement, please contact the Guidance Department at 237-2050.

CIBC Run for the Cure Committee:
