PEDICULOSIS
(Head Lice)
The Ottawa-Carleton Health Department no longer checks school children for head lice. Parents are asked to check their children on a regular basis and we will be doing the occasional check of all of our students here at school. Thank you to parent volunteers for helping out with this task! Nits (eggs) are oval-shaped and stick to the hair. Treatment with special shampoo and comb is required. We ask parents to be diligent in doing this as our school has recently experienced a rash of cases. Kindly inform the school if your child has head lice and we will send out a notice to all parents to check their child’s hair. It is important that all individuals who have head lice be treated at the same time to prevent the spread to other children.
