ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
Opened in 1980, St.Mark High School is located in Osgoode Ward, two kilometres east of Manotick. A modern, fully-equipped facility, St.Mark has had two major expansions, the addition of a 12-room port-a-pak and, in 2007, a further addition of 12 rooms to accomodate our growing population and provide students with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.

The St.Mark High School Council functions as an advisory
body to the school principal and, on occasion, to the Board. The Council provides advice on a
variety of issues and reflects the school community in composition and function.Meetings are held
approximately every six weeks.

HOW WE LIVE OUR CATHOLIC FAITH
Our Belief
The St.Mark High School community believes that a Catholic
high school is one in which the teachings of Jesus Christ are integrated into the day-to-day curriculum
and social fabric of high school life. We have many opportunities to pray and demonstrate our Catholic
faith including: prayer services, classroom liturgies, daily prayer, and active pastoral team, opportunities
for individual reflection in our chapel, and retreats for staff and students.
Our Partners
We live our Catholic faith by focusing on service, relationships, the Word of God, and lay witness and
leadership. Our chaplain coordinates and animates, with local pastors, the many areas of our faith life.
We also have Catholic symbols throughout our school and our parish representative is our liaison with
the parishes.
Demonstrating Our Faith
St.Mark High School demonstrates its commitment to the community by:
- service days for elderly in Oct/May; an annual canned food drive that supports community food banks with over 50,000 food items donated each year; annual visits to the Dominican Republic; preparation of Christmas food and gift hampers;
- blood donor clinics; snowsuit fund collections; visiting the elderly.
- Youth Ministry Team, Student Tutors
Our students help one another through their:
- OSAID, Quit-4-Life, Student Council, Athletic Council

Grades 7 -12 students participate in over 25 sports within the Ottawa area, including:

HOW WE KNOW WE ARE SUCCEEDING
Assessing Student Progress
The results from the EQAO Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics for the applied academic courses are displayed at the top of the page in graphs. Students who achieved level 3 or 4 meet provincial expectations. Provincial results are provided in tables beside the school graphs. The results from the EQAO Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) are presented next. Successful completion of the OSSLT is a graduation requirement.

PRESERVING OUR SCHOOL HISTORY - LAST YEAR IN REVIEW
The St.Mark community supports the concept of continuous improvement. This year we will: continue to support our Achievement Centre; continue to encourage a close home and school relationship through an active School Council; further our Board's social justice theme of 'Who Is My Neighbour' and continue to move to a balanced extra-curricular/co-curricular program focusing on athletics, art and music.

We believe our school should be at the centre of community activities. St.Mark High School is currently running at 173% capacity, with activities scheduled weeknights and on many weekends. Examples of who uses our facilities include:
- Osgoode-Rideau Basketball
- Local Recreational Badminton
- Girl Guides of Canada
In addition to these examples, over 100 different courses, programs and workshops are offered to the community through the Continuing Education programs.

More About Our Students/ School Achievement

St. Mark encourages excellence in academic and co-curricular activities. Examples of our students' successes and achievements include: Senior Boys' Football Team won the National Capital Championship; Girls' Hockey won the City Champsionship and have advanced to the Provincials; Our Cappies Program won three awards out of eleven nominations.
This year over 70,000 food items were collected in our annual canned food drive to feed the hungry.
