HOW WE KNOW WE ARE SUCCEEDING
Assessing Student Progress
The provincial assessment of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics conducted by EQAO for all students in grades 3 and 6 took place in May 2009. Students were assigned a score between level 1 (the lowest) and level 4 (the highest). Students performing at levels 3 or 4 meet provincial expectations. The school results over time are depicted in the graphs below. Provincial data is provided in the table for comparative purposes. Test results should be examined in the context of additional factors, such as other achievement indicators, the percentage of students in English as a Second Language programs, the percentage of students receiving special education support, socioeconomic factors and parental support. Detailed information about this assessment is available at the school.

PRESERVING OUR SCHOOL HISTORY - LAST YEAR IN REVIEW
Incorporating Gospel values into all areas of school life will continue to be a prime focus. Through our school strategic planning process, we identified strategies to address the values of: Faith, Community, Partnership, Persons, Excellence, Justice and Stewardship.
Conflict resolution skills at the junior level and play skills at the primary level will continue to be a focus for our school.
Staff members will be encouraged to attend a number of professional activities provided by the Board. Staff are working hard to implement the Ontario Curriculum in all subject areas. Careful analysis of the patterns emerging from provincial assessments have led to several new practices and initiatives. We continue to work collaboratively to ensure student success, staff success and the responsible use of resources.

More About Our Students/ School Achievement
|
 |
At Our Lady of Peace School, we believe it is important to recognize student achievement, participation, and excellence through the presentation of awards for individual and team success. These include: Most Improved Student, Student of the Year, Citizenship, Christian Fellowship, Fine Arts Awards, Academic Standing, Sportsmanship and recognition of each team with certificates and ribbons.
Our students' achievement shows improvement. This is a result of the support given to both the students and the staff; the strong work ethic of our staff who function as a team to plan and deliver quality programs; and the great desire on the part of our students to learn and be contributing members of their class and school.
Our common purpose of Catholic education for our students is the foundation of all we do. We are a community that is created and sustained by faith.
