HOW WE LIVE OUR CATHOLIC FAITH

    Our Belief

The St. Pius X High School community believes that a Catholic high school is one in which the teachings of Jesus Christ are integrated into the day-to-day curriculum and social fabric of high school life. We have many opportunities to pray and demonstrate our Catholic faith including: prayer services, classroom liturgies, daily prayer, and active pastoral team, opportunities for individual reflection in our chapel, and retreats for staff and students.

    Our Partners

We live our Catholic faith by focusing on service, relationships, the Word of God, and lay witness and leadership. Our chaplain coordinates and animates, with local pastors, the many areas of our faith life. We also have Catholic symbols throughout our school and our parish representative is our liaison with the parishes.

PRESERVING OUR SCHOOL HISTORY - LAST YEAR IN REVIEW

The staff of St. Pius X High School strongly support the concept of continuous improvement. This year we will continue with our mandate to nurture our Catholic faith and at the same time offering strong academics. We will continue to work towards preparing our grade 10 students appropriately for the EQAO Literacy Test and our grade 9 students for the EQAO Mathematics Assessment. We will continue to focus on ensuring that all of our graduates are ready for their next post-secondary endeavour, be it university, college or the world of work.

      More About Our Students/
      School Achievement

Since 1998, St. Pius X has coordinated, through SEVEC, an
annual student exchange. The exchange with a Micmac community in Conne River, Newfoundland took place in December, 2003 and May, 2004. We had several school teams attend OFSSA over the past years, including the Senior Boys' Soccer on two occasions, Girls' and Boys'Hockey, and Girls' Field Hockey.

Training and competition in the Canadian National Math League and University of Waterloo Math Contests form an integral part of the St. Pius X Mathematics program. The Canada-wide Avogadro contest is written by our Grade 11 Chemistry students annually. Each year St. Pius enters a team in the Concours de Français sponsored by Ottawa and Carleton Universities, and St. Pius X sends participants to the Board-wide Concours d'art oratoire. Moreover, St. Pius X participates actively in various leadership camps and student-led retreats during the course of the school year.
